Rapeseed meal is the by-product of the extraction of oil from rapeseed which is widely grown in India. It is a protein-rich ingredient that is widely used to feed all classes of livestock and is a cheaper substitute for Soybean Meal. Recent worldwide consumption of rapeseed meal is on a continuous increase as the prices of Soybean Meal are showing an upward trend. While solvent-extracted rapeseed meal remains the main type of rapeseed meal commercially available, oil-rich rapeseed meals obtained by mechanical pressure have gained popularity since the turn of the century with the development of organic farming and on-farm oil production.
